Choosing the most competitive programs:
Every year, a few of the many talented students with high marks and test scores get offers from the most exclusive programs in Canada, U.S. and abroad. Such acceptances would be from the Ivy League and similarly selective schools, as well as direct entry medical schools in the U.S.
In Canada, among the most competitive would be QuARMS (direct med school entry at Queen’s), the Ivey School of Business at Western, Health Sciences at McMaster, U of T or Waterloo Engineering, or the School of Management at McGill, to name a few.
In the U.K. and Ireland, we know any program at Oxford and Cambridge is highly competitive, and obtaining a direct entry “standard” medical school acceptance is as well. The London School of Economics embraces only the best qualified students.
Successful applicants typically start early in developing a challenging secondary school program, writing PSAT’s in grade 10 and planning for later testing, supporting their academics with an impressive extracurricular profile, and presenting themselves in the best possible way to the schools of their choice.
